The Straight Scoop about Celebrex
One of two major long term medical studies evaluating the long-term effect of higher dose Celebrex on preventing colon cancer is being stopped prematurely because it appears that major cardiovascular events (fatal and non-fatal heart attacks and strokes) occur more than twice as often among persons taking Celebrex than those who do not. Pfizer says that the other study does not to show this relationship.
At this point the details of the studies are not fully available, but since other drugs (Vioxx & Bextra) in the same COX-inhibitors
class seem to have similar properties, it is appropriate to consult with your prescribing physician to reevaluate its use. This is even more important if you have had indications of heart disease (angina like chest pains or a heart attack or stroke). If you feel you have been affected by your use of Celebrex (Bextra or Vioxx), please contact us immediately for a free, confidential evaluation of your case.
What Does this Mean for You?
The risk of Celebrex applies to you if you regularly took prescribed Celebrex most days for more than a year. If you regularly took Celebrex most days for more than a year, then your chance of suffering serious cardiovascular problems including heart attack or stroke increased.
Do I Need a Lawyer?
If the increased risk of serious cardiovascular problems including heart attack or stroke have become a reality for you -- and you have suffered a serious cardiovascular problem such as heart attack or stroke, or or required medical treatment (Aspirin, Beta-Blockers, or Anticoagulants) or a surgical procedure (Bypass, Stent, PTCA) then you likely were damaged by Celebrex and should contact us immediately for a free, confidential evaluation of your case.
